Archbishop Stanisław Nowak – Metropolitan of Częstochowa

Metropolitan of Częstochowa Archbishop Stanisław Nowak was born on 11 July 1935 in Jeziorany n. Cracow into a worker’s family. He studied at the Faculty of Theology of the Jagiellonian University and received holy orders in 1958. after ordination worked in some parishes as an auxiliary parish priest. In the period 1967-71 he studied in the Parisian Spiritual Institute, where he defended his doctorate. After coming back to Poland he was a lecturer, spiritual director and rector of the Seminary of the Archdiocese of Cracow. Since 8 September 1984 he is the bishop of Częstochowa. On 25 March 1992 appointed the Archbishop of Częstochowa.
